What is the most expensive and best-selling skincare product on the market? Let us help you, it’s not sold in a doctor’s office or a medical spa and it definitely does not have any science to back it’s results or before and after pictures. That’s right it’s sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and it’s full of fragrance, water, fillers and other ingredients you don’t want on your skin, and it’s $2400. If you didn’t know this and you buy from drug stores and department stores, you’re going to want to keep reading.

There are a few things to keep in mind when purchasing skincare. Did you know over the counter skincare is made to sit on the top layer of skin, whereas professional skincare is made to penetrate the epidermis into the deeper dermal layers where it is needed to promote collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid just to name a few.

As medical professionals we suggest not diagnosing your own skin. Just because you think your skin is dry doesn’t mean it actually is. You might just be using the wrong products. A doctor, aesthetician, or a nurse in the medical aesthetic industry are the professionals you should be seeing to diagnose your skin.

Another factor to keep in mind, Amazon is wonderful but some of those skincare products are not real or developed by the company they say they are. They are also not regulated by the FDA like products sold in medical practices. Not only is the FDA not regulating these products, but the warehouses aren’t being regulated. Just because it seems like a good deal doesn’t always mean it is.
