Dermal Fillers

untitled design 2

As we age, we begin to loss volume in the face, contributing to fine lines and wrinkles on the face. This is due to a gradual decline in collagen and elastin in the skin, loss of fat pads, and bone resorptionas a natural process of aging. We often hear patients complain of a “saggy” appearance and a desire to restore a more youthful appearance. Fillers are one of the best ways for you to temporarily fill in fine lines, wrinkles, as well as restore areas of volume and structure loss. Not only are dermal fillers effective, but they also give patients instant results!

Dermal fillers can be used to treat hollowness under the eyes, volume loss in the mid-face and cheek area, nasolabial lines, jawline, fine lines around the lips, or can be used to add volume to the lips for the perfect pout. Dermal filler can also be used to treat a variety of other issues you may have regarding deep set lines and volume loss with a variety of advanced techniques that Brandi and her staff have perfected.

Dermal fillers can be accomplished with little to no discomfort. A topical numbing solution is first applied to the treatment area to allow for maximum patient comfort. Our team also utilizes a variety of techniques to optimize patient comfort during the injection. Most patients report feeling comfortable throughout the treatment with an occasional pinch or tingling sensation that quickly subsides. Typically, results can be achieved within 1 to 2 appointments, depending on your desired outcome.

Fillers are incredibly effective at reversing the signs of aging, they do sometimes come with a risk of bruising. Fortunately, there are a few simple things you can do to reduce swelling and decrease the likelihood of bruising post-treatment. We recommend patients discontinue use of all blood thinning medications one week prior to your appointment. This includes Aspirin, any anti-inflammatory medication (i.e. Ibuprofen, Advil, etc.), and even supplements such as fish oil or Vitamin E. We also recommend refraining from alcohol for 2-3 days before treatment, as alcohol can thin the blood and increase the size of blood vessels. We also recommend taking Arnica, a homeopathic remedy to treat bruising. This can be purchased at Austin Skin and Wellness or at most supplement stores.
