What Is Hydrafacial?

Hydrafacial is a multi-step facial that cleanses, exfoliates and infuses nourishing serums deep into your skin using a handheld device with a vacuum tip. This technology pulls out dirt and oil while simultaneously pushing in serums, so your skin gets cleaned and nourished in one motion. Hydrafacial uses gentle suction and water-based solutions, which makes it comfortable and effective for most skin types. It offers smoother skin with refined pores and a fresh glow.

How Hydrafacial Works

Hydrafacial uses patented Vortex-Fusion® technology that creates a vortex against your skin. This swirling action loosens debris from your pores and lifts it away through light suction. As the tip moves across your face, it delivers customized serums into the pores. We control the pressure, adjusting it based on the area of your face, so more sensitive or oilier spots get customized attention.

Who Is Hydrafacial For?

Hydrafacials suit most skin types, including oily, dry, combination and sensitive skin. We can use this treatment for:

  • Clogged pores
  • Blackheads
  • Fine lines
  • Dullness
  • Uneven texture
  • Early signs of aging
  • Mild acne

We may recommend this treatment for first-time patients who want a gentler way to refresh the skin. During your consultation, we can review your skin history and any active conditions to confirm that Hydrafacial is a good fit before moving forward.

Hydrafacial Treatment Steps

Step 1: Cleanse + Peel

During this first step, we clear away surface buildup and soften the top layer of your skin. This helps remove any leftover makeup, oil, dirt and other debris from the surface to prepare it for additional steps. A mild peel solution follows, usually a blend of glycolic and salicylic acids that break down the bond holding dull skin in place. The acids are gentle enough that you won’t feel the burning that can happen with strong peels. Once the dead skin cells are gone, your skin will be more receptive to later serums.

Step 2: Extract + Hydrate

Next, we use the vacuum tip to clear out your pores. The suction pulls out blackheads, oil and debris from deep in the skin without the pinching of manual extractions. During this step, the device also pushes a hydrating serum into your pores, with a mix of honey extract and salicylic acid to calm the skin and keep oil in check. This step is helpful for those with congested or oily skin, and it can help pores to look smaller and feel cleaner.

Step 3: Fuse + Protect

This step floods your skin with antioxidants and peptides to lock in your results. Serums during this step are rich in vitamins and peptides to support healthier and firmer skin. These ingredients soak in, brightening your complexion and defending against daily damage. Serums also provide hydration that gives the skin an immediate glow. After this step, your face will look refreshed, and the treatment will end with sunscreen to protect the freshly treated skin.

Add-On Boosters (Optional)

You can add booster serums to address specific concerns during your treatment. There are boosters for dark spots, fine lines, redness, acne and dehydration. A brightening booster fades discoloration while a peptide booster targets early wrinkles. We can recommend the right product based on your skin goals during your visit. Boosters only add a few minutes to your appointment and let us customize your treatment even more.

What to Expect During Your Hydrafacial Treatment

A full Hydrafacial takes about 30 to 45 minutes, so many patients book it on a lunch break. The process is relaxing, and you will be able to recline in a comfortable chair while we pamper your face. It feels like a gentle facial massage with light suction. There is no pain with the treatment and no need to numb the skin.

What to Expect After Your Hydrafacial Treatment

There is no downtime after a Hydrafacial, so you can return to work and even apply makeup right away. Your skin will look brighter and feel smoother immediately, and you may notice a visible glow that lasts for several days. Some people experience mild redness for a short time, which usually fades within an hour. During the first few days, avoid harsh scrubs and direct sun, and wear sunscreen to protect your skin. It also helps to drink water and keep your skin moisturized to keep your glow for longer between visits.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Hydrafacial different from a traditional facial?

A traditional facial uses manual cleansing, steam and hand extractions, which can sometimes irritate sensitive skin. Often, these treatments don’t get as deep as a Hydrafacial, treating just the surface of the skin. With Hydrafacial, results are more predictable and often more effective than a standard facial. It can also be gentler for those who have experienced irritation after other facials.

How often should I get Hydrafacial?

Most patients get a Hydrafacial once a month to keep their skin clear and hydrated. If you are treating a specific concern like congestion or dullness, we might suggest more frequent visits at first before spreading them out. Monthly visits match your skin’s natural renewal cycle, so it can be a great addition to your routine.

Can Hydrafacial be combined with other treatments?

As a gentle treatment, Hydrafacial pairs well with other treatments. We may suggest pairing it with dermaplaning, LED light therapy, lymphatic drainage, chemical peels and more. Many people add it to their routine before a special event for an extra glow. We will help plan your timing so your skin is able to recover and renew between treatments.

How long will my Hydrafacial results last?

Results usually last five to seven days, with the glow most visible in the first few days. Regular monthly sessions help your skin to be clearer and smoother overall. Your daily skincare habits and sun protection also affect how long the benefits hold.
